CHIEF JOSEPH F. LYON, US NAVY (Ret.)

TMC Joseph Frederick Lyon, 92, of Port St. Lucie, formerly of Francis, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Canadaqua, NY having grown up in Elgin, NY and was a resident of Francis from 1983 to 2014 prior to moving to Port St. Lucie.

Joseph had served in the US Navy for 22 years, serving during both WW II and the Korean Conflict, having retired as a Chief Torpedomanís Mate Chief Petty Officer in 1966. Following his service in the Navy, he worked for NASA and Daniel Corp. where he was an electrical quality control inspector at nuclear power plants. While working for NASA he had watched the first Poseidon launch with President John F. Kennedy. He was Baptized at Francis Baptist Church. Joseph was a very grounded and a no nonsense kind of person.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ruth Lyon; parents; and a sister, Jane Lyon.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law whom he raised, Brenda Randall of Port St. Lucie; and three step-grandchildren and spouse, Michael Joseph Jacobs, Jr., and wife, Brooke; Adam Edward Jacobs; and Kyle Edward Jacobs and two great granddaughters, Kamryn Jacobs and Annalyn Jacobs.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Interment with full military honors bestowed by the US Navy will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
