Joseph "Joe" F. Cepuran

Joseph F. “Joe” Cepuran, 93, of Salt Springs passed away peacefully Monday, May 21, 2018 at Estelle's House, Hospice of Marion County in Ocala.

Joe was born in Pittsburg, PA and had been a resident of Salt Springs for the past 38 years, coming from Lake Monroe. He served honorably in the United States Army during WW II. While serving in the military, he helped to develop the predecessor of the C-4 explosive. The C-4 powder had been developed and he figured out how to turn it into a gel. For that he was paid $253.00. He worked for Southern Pipe and Supply in Orlando, retiring as manager in 1986 after 47 years of service. He made donations to the Christian Church in Salt Springs to help the destitute living in the Ocala National Forest along with donations to other causes. He enjoyed writing poetry and had written many poems.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Cepuran; a daughter, Lauren Cepuran Getmen; and a brother, John Cepuran.

Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Judy Cepuran of Atlanta, GA, Jeff Cepuran of Pensacola, Douglas and Candace Cepuran of Port Orange, and Clark Cepuran of Salt Springs; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
