JOYCE W. BAKER

Joyce Willis Baker, 77, of East Palatka passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a brief illness.

Joyce had been a resident of East Palatka for ten years, coming from Dallas, NC. She was a graduate of the Mt. Holly High School in Mt. Holly, NC. She retired in 2002 from the Gaston Memorial Hospital after 20+ years in food service. She had served as a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 59 in Mt. Holly, NC and had also been a former member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, NC. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeGrand Baker; a sister, Elaine McCoy; and a brother, James Willis.

Surviving are two sons, Sgt. Bethea Baker, U.S. Army National Guard (Ret.) of Dallas, NC and Mark Baker of Satsuma; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Rodney Austin of East Palatka; two brothers, Henry Willis of Gastonia, NC and Roger Willis of Monroe, NC; three sisters, Lora Lee Caldwell of Gastonia, NC, Helen Rhodes of Lincolnton, NC, and Judy Ballard of Satsuma; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great grandchildren (twins) on the way.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Gaston Memorial Park Chapel in Gastonia, NC, with Pastor Abott John Kennedy officiating.
