Charles D. Gillipsie

Charles D. Gillispie, 93, of Interlachen, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 a Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a brief illness.

He was born and raised in Ft. Meade and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 20 years coming from Pompano Beach. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WW II. In his earlier years he had sold life insurance for the former National Standard Life Insurance Company and later sold culverts for Southern Culvert which was later called Champion International. He received numerous awards for his outstanding sales abilities. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of North Broward Masonic Lodge # 404 in Deerfield Beach/ Valley of Lake Worth, Orient of Florida #021675559 Scottish Rite of Free Masonry 32nd degree. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and flower gardening. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Sam and Mable Gillispie; three sisters and a brother.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Donna Sue Gillispie of Interlachen; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Gillispie of Lighthouse Point, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Henderson of Newberry; a step-son and wife, Brian and Brenda Cripe of Edgewater; a step-daughter, Annette Hoover of Columbus, IN; a brother, Bill Gillispie of Washington, GA; three sisters, Dora Smith of Washington, GA, Carolyn Swartz of Sun City Center, FL and Ruby Moody of Ft. Meade; four grandchildren, Mike Henderson of Gainesville, Kevin Henderson of Newberry, Dave Gillispie of Ft. White and Kim Gillispie of Pompano Beach; three step-grandchildren, Zachary Hoover of Columbus, IN, Kyndal Mae Cripe of Edgewater and Krystal Belding of Lightouse Point; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Interlachen with Pastor Chris White officiating with Masonic Rites bestowed by Pineland Lodge # 86 F & AM Palatka. In honor and celebration of Mr. Gillispe's life, a Video Tribute will be shown. Inurnment will be in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date with military honors bestowed by the United State Marine Corps.
